In a report by Reuters news agency today, US business conglomerate Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google and Jigsaw, has made available new software to monitor comment sections on websites. The program called Perspective, will use information gained from humans that have reviewed hundreds of thousands comments that they felt were offensive or abusive. Even though Perspective will not itself delete or suspend comments, it will flag comments for moderators that decide which comments are appropriate for their website. Jared Cohen, President of Jigsaw, stated that the Perspective software is still in its early stages and, “far from perfect”.
