Pence in KY to Pitch GOP Health Care Plan

The Associated Press reports today that US Vice President Mike Pence is in Kentucky to calm skeptic’s concerns about the House of Representatives’ health care bill. With one in four people in Kentucky on the state’s Medicaid program, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has labeled the House’s proposal as “Obamacare Lite”. Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin previously stated that his state could not pay for its Medicaid program and struck a conciliatory tone on Saturday by saying that “ultimately these differences of opinion will be rectified.” US President Donald Trump echoed this optimism by tweeting:

We are making great progress with healthcare. ObamaCare is imploding and will only get worse. Republicans coming together to get job done!

Heritage Action, FreedomWorks and the Club for Growth have criticized and opposed the House GOP health care plan. As reported by the AP, Steve Beshear, the former Democratic governor of Kentucky, has defended The Affordable Care Act known as Obamacare. He has been praised by other democrats for bringing down the number of uninsured in his state.
