Turkish-Backed Rebels Refuse to Meet at Peace Talks

In a report by Reuters news agency, Turkish backed rebels in Syria refuse to negotiate at Russian-led peace talks. According to the report, the rebels refused to attend the talks in Kazakhstan over Russian airstrikes and claims that the Syrian army and Iranian backed militias are not honoring a cease fire. The Russian-backed Syrian government said the rebels are Turkish proxies and that Turkey as broken its commitments to the peace process. Syrian government envoy Bashar al Ja’afari said, “When one of the three guarantors breaks their commitment – and I mean Turkey – this means that Turkey must be the one that is asked about the non-attendance or participation of these armed groups”.
