G20 Changes Stance on Free Trade

In a report by Reuters news agency today, leaders from 20 countries with the largest economies made only a symbolic reference to trade, abandoning a pledge to keep trade free and open worldwide. The G20, meeting in Hamburg, Germany this year, did not pledge to fund activities to combat the highly controversial topic of climate change. The Reuters report stated the Group of Twenty’s dialogue “was friendly and non-confrontational”.
