Romania to Buy US Missiles

Reuters news agency reports that Romania plans to buy eight Patriot missile defense systems by the end of this year. The $7.6 billion deal with Raytheon will enable Romania to move forward with an integrated air defense system that will also utilize 6 newly acquired F-16 fighter aircraft. According to the report, an unnamed Raytheon spokesperson said, “Raytheon has a longstanding relationship with Romania and will work closely with the U.S. and Romanian governments to ensure this NATO partner achieves its defense objectives.”
