Hundreds more Flee Mosul Fighting

Reuters news agency reports today that hundreds are leaving war torn Mosul, Iraq as Iraqi forces continue the assault to rid the city of the Islamic State. After seven months of fighting, Iraqi forces now control the eastern districts of the city and are advancing westward through Islamic State booby traps, sniper and mortar fire. The report states Iraqi troops are now pushing to the al-Nuri mosque where almost three years ago Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi created the caliphate that controls parts of Iraq and Syria.
