US Carrier Strike Group in Sea of Japan

RT reports today that the USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group entered the Sea of Japan through the Tsusima Strait kicking off joint naval exercises with South Korea. According to the report, the drill will focus on monitoring, tracing, and intercepting any intercontinental ballistic missiles that could be potentially launched by North Korea. Today, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said that Moscow supports China’s initiative to reduce tensions by calling on North Korea to refrain from carrying out further missile and nuclear tests in exchange for the US and South Korea’s suspension of military exercises around the Korean peninsula.
