The Associated Press reports today that a street mix of several opioids are being blamed for thousands of fatal overdoses in the US. The substance is composed of heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil and a synthetic opioid called U-47700. The drug, known as Gray Death, looks like concrete and can either be a hard, chunky material or a fine powder. According to the report, Deneen Kilcrease, manager of the chemistry section at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Gray Death ingredients and their concentrations are unknown to users, making it particularly lethal. In addition, since these drugs can be absorbed through the skin, just touching the powder puts users at risk.
