As reported by RT, the Philippines has moved troops and equipment to Pag-asa Island in the South China Sea. The island, claimed by both the Philippines and China, is part of the the Spratly archipelago, which is also claimed by Taiwan and Vietnam. The Philippines will lengthen an existing airstrip, install solar power, construct a desalination plant, refurbish military housing, and build sites for marine research and tourists. According to the report, 1.6 billion pesos (US$32 million) has been set aside for construction on the island.
