Reuters news agency reports today that the Dutch government in the Netherlands failed to form a cabinet over disagreements on immigration. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s conservative VVD party emerged as the largest after the March 15 election. The VVD, had been in talks with the conservative Christian Democrats, the centrist D-66 party and the Green Left party. Edith Schippers told reporters in the Hague, “It didn’t work. The talks between the (parties) are over and will not lead to a new cabinet.”
Rutte’s party must now investigate alternatives.
