G7 Meets, US Resists Climate Deal

The Washington Times reports today that countries representing the seven major advanced economies, known as the Group of Seven or G7, met in Sicily, Italy. With intense lobbying by leaders of other industrialized nations, President Donald Trump is weighing a move to pull the US out of the the Paris climate change agreement. According to the report, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the group’s discussions with President Trump were “controversial” and “very intensive.” President Trump said he will decide on the Paris accord after returning home from the G7 Summit. Germany, Japan, Italy, Britain, France and Canada have agreed to back the accord.
