The Washington Times reports today that the U.S. military has carried out an airstrike against the al-Shabab Islamic extremist group in Somalia, Africa. Pentagon spokeswoman Major Audricia M. Harris said the strike occurred Sunday afternoon Somalia time and the U.S. was assessing the results. Major Harris did not call it a drone strike, however, Somali officials have said the U.S. has carried out several drone strikes in recent years against the al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab.
