35 Die Off Tunisian Coast

Reuters news agency reports that at least 35 people were killed when their boat sank off Tunisia’s southern coast and 67 others were rescued by the coast guard, the Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

According to the report, the rescue operation was ongoing and those killed were from Tunisia and “other nations”.

Human traffickers increasingly use Tunisia as a launch pad for people heading to Europe illegally as Libya’s coast guard, aided by armed groups, has tightened controls.
