Due to Amazon’s Success, USPS Should Be Charging More

Reuters news agency reports that U.S. President Donald Trump said since Amazon is charged so little and the U.S. Postal Service runs a deficit every year, the country’s postal service should raise prices of shipments in order to recoup costs.

According to the report, the U.S. Postal Service is an independent agency within the federal government and does not receive tax dollars for operating expenses. The organization makes up a significant portion of the $1.4 trillion U.S. delivery industry. Other players include United Parcel Service Inc. and Fedex Corp.
Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos, who remains the chief executive officer of the retail company.
